ARAU: The infrastructure for the Chuping Valley Industrial Area (CVIA) spanning more than 1,215 hectares is expected to be fully completed in 2020, says Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man.
He said a RM36 million one-stop centre, the Intergrated Business Centre (IBC), for investors to obtain all necessary information and to have discussions with the authorities is being built.
It will be completed by September this year.
"The CVIA is a state government venture managed by the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA).
It will be the catalyst for the Perlis economy in generating gross revenue of RM2.58 billion by 2025," Azlan said.
He told reporters this after handing over aid in conjunction with Ramadan to 1,853 recipients in the Sanglang state constituency at the Bongor Kudong Mosque here today.
Azlan said the development of a solar farm did not necessitate the need to wait for the infrastructure to be fully completed for implementation, but discussions with a number of potential investors was still being finalised.
Asked about the sustainability of the CVIA he added: "I will not launch a project if not convinced of its implementation. I took the approach of conducting research and having discussions.
"Only when found suitable and the terms and conditions achieved, as well as profitability of both parties (government and investors), did we launch."
The CVIA was officially launched by the Raja Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail on March 27 this year. It comprises three clusters, namely renewable energy, green manufacturing and the halal industry. -- BERNAMA
