KUALA LUMPUR: Felcra Bhd (Felcra) has set an ambitious target of RM2 billion in revenue for 2017 compared to RM1.8 billion last year.
Felcra chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin expressed confidence that the company would be able to achieve the target based on its plan to diversify into other businesses.
He said Felcra aims to minimise country’s dependency on food imports by at least five per cent.
“Our imported food products have been increasing from year to year; last year, Malaysia spent RM45.6 billion on food imports.
“This year, the amount is expected to increase to RM47 billion,” he told reporters at the Felcra Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at Wisma Felcra, here today.
Bung Moktar said Felcra has identified about 80,000 hectares of land nationwide to build farming centres for chicken and food products.
