Unisem Q2 profits rose 12pc to RM42.1m

KUALA LUMPUR: Unisem (M) Bhd’s second-quarter net profit ended June 2017 rose 11.88 per cent to RM42.10 million from RM37.63 million, a year ago, due to improved profit margin arising from higher US dollar-priced semiconductor sales achieved coupled with the appreciation of USD/MYR exchange rate, as compared to the prevailing rate in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

This lead to Unisem’s earnings per share rising to 5.74 sen per share.

In an exchange filing today, the semiconductor company said its second quarter revenue increased by 13.98 per cent to RM365.74 million from RM320.89 million.

Unisem has also recommended tax-exempted interim dividend of 3.5 sen per share, which will be paid on September 8, 2017.

Moving forward, Unisem expects the company’s performance to remain satisfactory until the end of this year.
