KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian entrepreneur gifted vehicles valued at RM3.1 million to employees in recognition of their contributions to the success of his restaurant and karaoke ventures.
The entrepreneur, who annually rewards staff for their dedication and commitment, said this year's recipients included 31 employees, who received vehicles from high-end brands such as BMW, Audi, Toyota, Honda, and Proton.
China Press reported that in the ceremony on Nov 11, four long-serving employees were each presented with a BMW 6 Series, with the cars collectively valued at RM1.8 million.
"These four BMW cars are being presented to four long-serving employees who helped build the company with me, as a token of appreciation for their contributions," the founder, known as John Wong was quoted as saying.
The recipients included a C-level executive and branch managers.
Foreign employees from Nepal and Myanmar were also recognised, receiving vehicles along with driving licenses and all associated costs covered by the company.
A 34-year-old employee described the gift as a meaningful form of encouragement.
He added that he had travelled with his family from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Baru for the event.
It was the second time he received a BMW, with his first car being awarded seven years ago.
The entrepreneur's restaurant and karaoke outlets operate multiple branches in the Klang Valley and Johor and are often featured on food content sites popular among local diners.
