Proton sells 66,190 units as at November, 2017

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton Holdings Bhd achieved a two per cent sales growth year-to -date (YTD), recording 66,190 units as at November 2017 compared to 65,069 units in the same period last year.

Championing Proton’s sales are the Saga and Persona, contributing 70 per cent of its total sales YTD, having sold 28,368 units and 18,113 units, respectively.

Vice president of sales & marketing, Abdul Rashid Musa said the steady growth from January to November was a positive achievement for the national carmaker, amid challenging journey for Proton in the past five years.

“We will continue to push ourselves harder in the coming months and we hope that customers will take advantage of the year-end deals for Proton cars,” he said in a statement.

He added the growth is seen from the current quality improvements that are on-going internally.

“Together with our partner, Proton has intensified quality improvement processes and efforts, with exceptional sharing of knowledge and skills and the opportunity for our local team to be trained at Geely in China,” he said.

Abdul Rashid said the progress has been positive since Proton already own good and durable products, citing that the reliability and durability of the cars were tested in a gruelling nine-hour endurance race at Sepang 1,000 km 2017 last month, whereby the national marque became the overall winner.

“We shall keep working on further improvements in our cars and we look forward to also do better in providing customer satisfaction,” Rashid said.

With the championship win, the Iriz gained slight traction in sales with a 2.8 per cent increase in November 2017 compared to October 2017, after a lacklustre performance year-to-date.
