In a statement today, MSM noted Amri had resigned and will not return to work.
It was previously reported that Amri had decided to leave his employment because he was being constructively dismissed.
MSM had denied Amri's claim and even requested him to return to work in accordance with the terms and conditions of service to discharge his roles and responsibilities as the president and group chief executive officer.
Shaffie, who succeeds Amri today, will directly report to MSM executive director.
Shaffie was previously MSM chief technical officer and MSM Sugar Refinery (Johor) Sdn Bhd project director.
MSM said the group will continue business as usual and the board of directors together with the management stand firm in growing the business.
