SK Magic home appliances debuts in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: South Korean conglomerate SK Group, which launched its home appliance arm SK Magic in Malaysia four months ago, plans to be present in over half a million homes here within the next four years.

“SK Magic will expand into the rental market for home appliances and develop a more varied line-up of products to provide an improved lifestyle experience for our customers,” said Nam Su Park, managing director of SK Network Retails Malaysia, in a statement.

Park is convinced that SK Magic can position itself as the leader in water purifier in Malaysia.

“We are very excited to enter the Malaysian market. At the moment, we are looking forward to developing the home appliance rental sector as a future growth engine,” he said.

Headquartered in Yonsei University Severance Building in Seoul, SK Magic is an arm under the SK Group, the biggest South Korean conglomerate.

SK Magic’s home appliance sector has formed a stable pillar in the company and is now actively working to develop the rental sector as a future growth engine based on the strong performance of water purifiers.

SK Magic will introduce more than nine products into the Malaysian market, including their water purifiying technology called Jik.Soo which has been innovated to require no water tank – keeping the water clean while still retaining its minerals.

The company said Jik.Soo’s cutting-edge technology not only purifies the water but also changes its temperature in an instant to the user’s desire.

SK Magic is currently available in 20 countries including the Middle East such as Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Malaysia is the first Southeast Asian country that SK Magic has launched in with plans to expand to other regional countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and Laos.

In 2018, SK Magic’s home appliance sector held strong as the company’s dishwashers, multi ovens, gas an electronic ranges, microwaves, and dishwashers were ranked number one in their respective categories for the 2018 Korea Brand Power Index (K-BPI).

It was the 17th consecutive year for dishwashers and the 12th consecutive year for multi ovens to receive the top ranking.
