SEPANG: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is planning various activities to attract more tourists into the country in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia 2020 (VM2020).
The airport operator yesterday kicked off its Chinese New Year (CNY) festive campaign with a theme inspired by a floating garden with the koi fish to bring luck and prosperity.
"We have sufficient allocations for our campaigns throughout this year not only for VM2020 but also the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in November and other events or festivities throughout this year,” acting group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh told reporters after launching the CNY campaign here yesterday.
Mohd Shukrie said MAHB would enhance the airport ambiance leveraging on augmented reality (AR) technology via digital screen to improve the overall travelers’ journey experiences.
“This is something different from what we have done in the past. We will also incorporate a fusion of both traditional and modern elements,” he added.
Beginning today until February 9, passengers travelling through KLIA will be able to experience festive activities and performances lined up at both terminals, main KLIA and klia2.
Commercial services senior general manager Nazli Aziz said MAHB’s focus was improving passengers’ journey experience throughout all airports nationwide.
“We have three themes planned for this year including Love at first sight; Experience Malaysia and Take a piece of Malaysia home.
“We are continuously looking for ways on how we can enhance the passenger experience at our airports to commemorate these festive seasons and make them meaningful for both the local community as well as those coming to Malaysia for the first time,” he said.
During the CNY campaign, MAHB will also reward travellers and airport patrons who shop at its international airports nationwide.
With a minimum spend of RM288 at any MAHB’s retail and food and beverages outlets at international airports, customers can redeem one pack of Malaysia Airports limited edition Ang Pow packets or two packs of Ang Pow packets for UnionPay cardholders with a minimum spend of RM188 in a single receipt.
To redeem even more exclusive premium Ang Pow packets, encased in a luxurious velvet box, shoppers only need to spend a minimum of RM2888 or RM2388 for UnionPay cardholders in a single receipt.
Meanwhile, shoppers who spend a minimum of RM3,388 by using UnionPay card or RM3,888 via other payment services in a single receipt at KLIA may also redeem a limited-edition Royal Selangor Bespoke Koi Fish Pewter Charm, which is exclusively made available during this campaign.
The charm is limited to 2,000 pieces.
For a limited time only on January 25 and 26 at KLIA, those who spend a minimum of RM5888 in a single receipt will also get to redeem a hand-painted artisanal floral tiffin.
