LTH announces three key appointments

KUALA LUMPUR: Lembaga Tabung Haji has today announced the appointments of three senior management in its effort to strengthen financial management and investment.

Datuk Merina Abu Tahir has been appointed as its chief financial officer, Mohamad Damshal Awang Damit as chief investment officer and Muhammad Fawwaz Aminuddin as strategic investment general manager.

Merina, whose appointment was effective on February 5, is a certified accountant from Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), Asean Chartered Professional Accountant (Asean CPA), and the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia (IIAM).

She has over 30 years of experience working in various fields across local and international companies including multinationals, financial institutions and auditors.

Prior to this, she was the member of the MIA Council between 2016 and 2019.

She was also the former chairman of ACCA Advisory Committee of Malaysia.

Tabung Haji said Mohamad Damshal’s appointment was effective from January 20.

Prior to rejoining the fund, he was Social Security Organisation equity investment and fixed income chief.

Mohamad Damshal has over 26 years’ experience, particularly in the field of domestic and foreign investment management and credit analysis and risk regulation.

He was previously the chief executive officer of a commercial investment fund company.

Prior to this, he served Tabung Haji between 1999 and 2003, working at corporate planning department and led the fixed income investment portfolio.

Muhammad Fawwaz’s appointment was effective February 11.

He has an extensive experience in managing investment strategies with specialisation in strategic planning, development organisation, transaction structuring, corporate finance, project management, investment evaluation and business development.

He has served as an auditor in Deloitte United Kingdom before joining PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Malaysia as a corporate consultant.

Prior to joining Tabung Haji, he served as general manager at UMW Group and as the top management of several companies in the Middle East.
