Hotel Maya management believes in hospitality, tourism industries recovery

KUALA LUMPUR: Hotel Maya, the hospitality asset of Selangor Dredging Bhd (SDB) believes the hospitality and tourism industries will recover despite several hotels closing down during the movement control order (MCO) period.

General manager Sharmini Moganasundram said its parent company SDB has supported the hotel's efforts to further upgrade facilities, amenities and service offerings in an aim to continue being one of Kuala Lumpur's premium boutique hotels.

"While other establishments in Kuala Lumpur are shutting down and cutting costs, we are taking a contrarian approach with our continued investments in the renovation and beautification of the hotel," Sharmini told The New Straits Times.

Located across the road from the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), Hotel Maya had been a popular destination with tourists from Europe, China and Southeast Asia pre-MCO, said Sharmini.

Her vision for the hotel is for it to embrace all aspects of Malaysian hospitality, with common areas and rooms being upgraded to accommodate such an identity.

Further, Sharmini said current renovations include creating Heritage Rooms, which is expected to be completed by mid-August.

Moving forward and post-MCO, Sharmini said her team would continue collaborating with tour groups and social media platforms to further enhance sales and brand awareness.

"We intend to build on the goodwill and come up even stronger post-MCO, while delivering an enhanced Maya experience for guests and patrons," she said, adding that Hotel Maya is here to stay and would continue serving as a beacon of pride for Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia.

Apart from this, Hotel Maya is also set to offer food and beverage (F&B) delivery services as of 5 May 2020.

"Hotel Maya is renowned for our F&B offerings from our four kitchens, with a selection of Malay, Cantonese, Japanese and Western cuisines," Sharmini said.

In addition, the hotel is also offering a buka puasa package which can be ordered viaStoreHub.

"Among Malaysians, we already have a very loyal following," she said.
