KUALA LUMPUR: Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera has appointed Mohd Muzzammil Ismail as its new chief executive officer.
The foundation said with the appointment of Muzzammil, Yayasan Peneraju will intensify its efforts to increase the number of bumiputera talents competent in high-income economy through academic education, professional and vocational certifications.
As of today, Yayasan Peneraju has realised the aspirations of over 33,000 beneficiaries throughout Malaysia through its 261 funding programmes, distributing total allocations of RM716 million during its eight-year tenure.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Special Functions) Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof expressed confidence that Muzzammil will be able to carry out his duties well together with Yayasan Peneraju's team.
Mohd Redzuan said Muzammil's experience working with various government agencies will be useful when leading Yayasan Peneraju, especially in steering it to the same level as those in the developed nation, from a labour intensive to a high value economy with high income status.
"Focus will be given on several new fields and sectors to add-on to the values offered by Yayasan Peneraju aligning towards achieving a shared prosperity vision (SPV2030) agenda," he said.
Previously, Muzammil served as an academic fellow at Universiti Utara Malaysia, a research officer at Universiti Sains Malaysia and Universiti Malaya, as well as at several surveyors and town planning firms such as Think-City Geografia and BLT Architect.
He is also involved in the publication of five academic books, four journal articles and other articles in magazines besides being a regular columnist for newspapers such as Sinar Harian, Kosmo, Utusan, The Star and Berita Harian on education, town planning, disaster management and politics.
According to Yayasan Peneraju, he is also active in charity work and activism where he is the chairman of Pertubuhan Angkatan Baru Malaysia (Angkatan) and the president of a youth think tank academy, Akademi Bunga Raya Malaysia.
Muzammil is also active in challenging sports, where he has been appointed as the honorary advisor of the Malaysian Parachute Association (MYPA) and Pertubuhan Seni Silat Pusaka Gayung Malaysia.
