KUALA LUMPUR: Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd (DLMI) has appointed Ramjeet Kaur Virik as its new managing director effective from July 2.
The dairy company said Virik would succeed Tarang Gupta who would be managing director for Alaska Milk Corporation in the Philippines, a subsidiary of FrieslandCampina effective from August 1.
Virik will also assume the role of executive director of DLMI and a member of its board, reporting to Berndt Kodden, specialised nutrition president (global) of FrieslandCampina.
"Virik will continue to build upon the exceptional leadership of Tarang who oversaw the strengthening of DLMI's market position as the leading dairy company in Malaysia.
"She will further solidify ties with all stakeholders and business partners as well as drive future readiness with our milestone world-class RM400 million manufacturing hub, expected to be operational in 2023," it said.
Virik, 44, has more than 20 years of experience in the consumer marketing and business development, holding leadership positions in several multinational companies and is well suited to lead DLMI's main purpose of "Nourishing the Nation".
Virik, who is currently marketing director (consumer dairy) for DLMI, joined the company in 2011 as marketing manager for dairy-based beverages.
She subsequently moved to Indonesia in the same capacity for PT Frisian Flag Indonesia sweetened condensed milk category and later as International marketing manager based in Singapore.
In January 2018, Virik was promoted as marketing director for consumer dairy at DLMI where she led the portfolio and strengthen its market position in past three years.
