KUALA LUMPUR: Global Systémes Asia Sdn Bhd (GSA) has rebranded RUAG Malaysia as Global Component Asia Sdn Bhd (GCA) following its maiden acquisition of Swiss maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) giant RUAG International's operation in Malaysia.
GSA chairman Datuk Nonee Ashirin Mohd Radzi said the multinational corporation would significantly increase GCA's workforce by some 70 per cent and its maintenance facility area by 25 per cent.
"After the takeover of RUAG, we had a very clear strategy. Our focus was on the smooth integration of the RUAG team and service offerings with our capabilities to ensure fluid business continuity," she said in a statement today.
Nonee said it would be important for the company to ensure a high standard of services to existing clients and never be compromised.
"The skill and knowledge transfer from RUAG as well as their existing portfolio of established clientele sets the stepping stone for GCA to boast one of the industry's most highly acclaimed portfolio of services," she said.
GCA chief executive officer Syahrul Amir Zaki said the acquisition, integration of expertise and comprehensive capabilities made the company a globally recognised components MRO, especially in starter-generator and aircraft lighting equipment for helicopters and regional turboprops.
"GCA also has enhanced expertise within our already established spectrum of alternators, generators, and lighting as well as new capabilities in new product fields such as hydraulic actuators and servo controls," he said.
Syahrul said GCA's research and development team is developing its future capabilities portfolio which will be launched soon.
"We aim to double our revenue by 2024 to RM12 million with a 19.7 million worth of opportunity pipeline. We are also looking to expand our core market through our regional expansion," he added.
Nonee said the integration process for GCA-RUAG went smoothly and ahead of schedule, surpassing book order targets and in a position to proceed to plan for growth expansion.
"This includes increasing our market share in Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Brunei," she said.
Nonee said the acquisition of RUAG International's local operation saw GCA inherit formidable capabilities comprising of a legacy of established domestic, regional and international business supported by a well-equipped facility that operates at an international standard level.
This includes tooling and technical manpower with recognition for high-quality delivery performance and maintaining regulatory approvals such as the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Directorate General Technical Airworthiness (DGTA).
