#SHOWBIZ: David Teo: I'd have bought the house if I knew of Farid's troubles

KUALA LUMPUR: A double-storey terrace house in Bandar Saujana Putra, Selangor, allegedly belonging to actor Farid Kamil, is set to be auctioned on Jan 22.

According to a property auction advertisement, the name "Farid Kamil Zahari" is listed as the owner, BH Online reported.

The property, spanning 1,760 square feet, has a starting bid of RM522,000.

Attempts by BH Online to contact the 43-year-old actor and husband of Diana Danielle, were deflected.

Farid directed inquiries to his manager, Azahari Hamid, saying, "For media statements regarding emerging issues, please contact my manager."

Upon learning of the auction from the media, Metrowealth International Group (MIG) managing director David Teo, who gifted the house to Farid, said he would be disappointed if the matter was true.

"If Farid had an issue, he should have informed me. I might have been able to buy the house from him," said David.

He noted that the property's value has doubled since its purchase about 10 years ago.

David added: "I'm willing to pay Farid what he wants for the house and resell it later. But now, with the auction approaching, I can't do anything."

The house, it seems, has not been occupied by Farid but rented out to a former employee.

David shared that he had made down payments on houses for around 30 staff members, including Farid, as a gesture of gratitude for their contributions to MIG's successful films during that period.

"We never discussed personal matters, so I wasn't aware of his financial struggles.

"Our interactions were purely professional. He reached out to me for acting roles, and I cast him in Bisikan Dosa," he said.

David also emphasised that he does not involve himself in Farid's personal life.

Farid has yet to address the matter publicly.
