KUALA LUMPUR: Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd's first 100 per cent home-grown coffee Nescafe Classic Kopi Kedah has returned with this year's harvest.
Beyond the product itself, which features a refreshed look, the Nescafe brand is also offering five lucky Malaysians the opportunity to win an all-expenses paid trip to an actual coffee farm in Kedah with "Peraduan Nescafe Jom Semai Kopi".
As part of the Nescafe Grown Respectfully Programme, Nescafe Classic Kopi Kedah is a product of the sustainable coffee farming initiative aiming at revitalising the local coffee sector and uplifting the livelihoods of local farmers.
Nestle Malaysia said the initiative provides training on good agricultural practices to equip the farmers with the necessary technical expertise to produce high-quality coffee beans, allowing Malaysians to enjoy the authentic local coffee taste they love
Nestle Malaysia business executive officer beverages Othman Chraibi said the Grown Respectfully programme launched locally in Kedah reflects the company's commitment to support its farmers and the local communities.
Chraibi said as part of Nestle's commitment to connect with consumers through memorable experiences, the company is inviting a few happy Malaysians who are true coffee enthusiasts.
"The winners will be able to witness first-hand the great care and respect that goes into our Nescafe Classic Kopi Kedah, particularly showcasing our coffee farmers who are growing the very coffee beans that are at the heart of this product.
"From meeting and interacting with our farmers, as well as trying their hand at planting, grafting, and harvesting coffee, this is an opportunity not to be missed.
"We look forward to seeing the creative postings in the coming weeks," he said.
Coffee lovers eager to visit the birthplace of Nescafe Classic Kopi Kedah can take part in Peraduan Nescafe Jom Semai Kopi from November 1 to December 31.
Participants simply need to buy the 2021 edition of Nescafe Classic Kopi Kedah and scan the QR code available in the packaging to enjoy a Virtual Coffee Farm Visit through an Augmented Reality (AR) experience.
Participants can post this to their Facebook, Instagram or YouTube accompanied by the hashtag #NescafeKopiKedah and an interesting caption to be in the running!
Contest participants will be judged based on a point-based system for their social media postings.
The five participants with the highest points will be selected as winners, and will also be given a customised harvest, with a coffee plant named after them.
