Turkish Aerospace opens first engineering, design office in Southeast Asia in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Turkish Aerospace has today opened its new office in Selangor and pledges to continue investing and collaborating in Malaysia to develop new technologies.

The Cyberview Futurise campus is Turkish Aerospace's first engineering and design office in Southeast Asia.

"Turkish Aerospace will continue its investments and collaborations in Malaysia for the development of new generation technologies, particularly in the field of defense industry and aviation.

"As one of the leading companies in the global aviation industry, it has expanded its reach further by establishing more than 10 technology offices around the world,' Turkish Aerospace said at the new office launch today.

The company said Turkish and Malaysian engineers would work in the new office to carry out joint studies in a variety of areas.

This includes unmanned aerial vehicles, jet trainers, helicopter projects, and modernisation programmes for the global aviation ecosystem.

Senior Minister and International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the new office was an opportunity for Malaysia to secure workflow for the benefit of the Turkish and Malaysian aerospace industry.

"Turkey has one of the fastest developing defence and aerospace sectors in the world and has achieved many firsts for the Muslim world," Azmin said at the launch.

The bilateral linkages between Malaysia and Turkey have continued to grow from strength to strength, he said, adding that talks between Malaysia and Turkey on the expansion of the free trade agreement had made substantial progress.

Turkish Aerospace chief executive officer and president Temel Kotil said the office would strengthen the ties between the two countries and host important studies for them to develop joint projects in the field of aviation, space and defence.

The company aims to expand its experience in these fields within the scope of joint projects with Malaysia and to strengthen the global aviation industry.

"I hope our newly-opened office in Malaysia will be beneficial in raising the relations between the two countries," Kotil said.

Azmin said the government would continue to focus on attracting high-quality investments within the aerospace industry.

As per the 12th Malaysia Plan, being the leading aerospace nation in Southeast Asia is one of the country's focuses, serving a broader objective of achieving Malaysia's National Investment Aspirations and Sustainable Development Goals.

As of June this year, a total of 13 manufacturing projects with Turkish participation had been approved with total investments of RM510.4 million.
