QSR adds four independent directors to its board

KUALA LUMPUR: QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd has announced the addition of four new independent directors to its board.

Three of them are Chong Chye Neo, former IBM Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer and Bursa Malaysia Bhd director, Khoo Gaik Bee, former chief human resource in several companies and Axiata Group Bhd director and Foong Pik Yee, former chief financial officer in several esteemed companies and director of Ambank (M) Bhd, Paramount Corporation Bhd and Prudential Assurance Malaysia Bhd.

QSR Brands will have another board member joining from abroad - a former regional fast-food head to be announced soon.

Chong and Khoo's appointments will be effective from March 2022, while Foong will be joining on April 1.

"The fourth board member will be joining in due course," it said in a statement today.

QSR Brands chairman Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim said the company had embarked on a journey towards transformation while delivering shareholder value growth during a challenging period in the last two years.

He said today's announcement was another step of transformation, that is, on board governance including board composition, diversity, decision process, risk and compliance management, human capital talent management, and sustainability.

"As we refresh our board, these new appointments will collectively bring strategic oversight to QSR Brands and meet the Gold Standard of Corporate Governance.

"We're excited to welcome these prominent individuals to QSR Brands' board of directors. I am particularly pleased that we will achieve great diversity at the board," he said.

QSR Brands chief executive officer and managing director Nehchal Khanna said the addition of the four board members would augment the depth and experience of its board.

"We are looking forward to these highly regarded professionals with regional experience joining us," he said.
