KUALA LUMPUR: A stellar year for men's doubles player Goh Sze Fei has become even more memorable with his engagement announcement to girlfriend Yoke Shan on Instagram yesterday (Dec 24).
The post featured a photo of the couple, with Yoke Shan showing her palm to the camera, which had the words "I do" written on it along with a diamond ring on her finger.
"The best gift this season is the promise of us," wrote the 27-year-old Sze Fei in the caption.
Sze Fei and his men's doubles partner, Nur Izzuddin Rumsani, left the national badminton set-up in September after signing a lucrative contract with Taiwanese sports brand Victor.
Before leaving, the duo won the Japan Open title, defeating reigning world champions Kang Min Hyuk-Seo Seung Jae of South Korea in the final.
This year, Sze Fei-Izzuddin celebrated career highs by clinching their biggest title at the Super 1000 China Open and a third title at the Arctic Open in Finland.
The victory in Finland completed their collection of Super 100, 300, 500, 750 and 1000 titles.
The pair concluded their season as runners-up at the World Tour Finals in Hangzhou, amassing over RM2 million in prize money from their achievements this year.
