KUALA LUMPUR: Optimax Holdings Bhd is venturing into the metaverse through a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Metabond Group Sdn Bhd.
Under the MoA, Optimax will be given access to a plot of land in the Soulbond virtual world, which can be developed to promote and provide Optimax's products and services to visitors and players of the Soulbond MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing game).
The laser vision correction company said
participation in the Soulbond metaverse enables the company to reach out to customers in an immersive and virtual environment created by Metabond for gamers in which real-world businesses can have a presence and interact and hold events and activities.
Optimax chief executive officer Sandy Tan said the company is looking forward to the new possibilities in the metaverse through this partnership.
"There is a lot of potential for creating new experiences through these platforms for current and potential customers," she said in a statement today.
Metabond chief executive officer Clifford Hii said the Soulbond metaverse showcases the potential that Southeast Asia can offer to a global audience and shows real-world businesses' capability in recognising the metaverse's potential for them.
"We are seeing more instances of businesses moving into the metaverse or developing the capability to operate businesses in the metaverse.
"We are currently discussing participating in the Soulbond metaverse with other local and global businesses.
"We will soon be announcing more exciting news on this," Hii said.
