KUALA LUMPUR: KPJ Healthcare Bhd ("KPJ Healthcare" delivered a strong performance for its third quarter ended Sept 30 2022 (Q3 FY2022).t
KPJ's net profit surged to RM60.4 million from RM17. 9 million in the previous financial year's corresponding quarter.
This was achieved on the back of a higher turnover of RM809.2 million, reflecting a 16 per cent increase from RM699.0 million in last year's corresponding quarter.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation grew by 38 per cent to RM203.6 million, from RM147.9 million in Q3 FY2021.
KPJ said the formance was mainly driven by improvements in hospital activities, as reflected by the increase in patient visits and bed occupancy rates (BOR).
During the period under review, patient visits rose to 910,995 from 782,732 in Q3 FY2021, while BOR grew to 64 per cent compared with 43 per cent in Q3 FY2021.
The opening of KPJ's 29th hospital, Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (DSH2) in September 2022 will enable the company to capture growth opportunities through advanced healthcare technologies.
Cumulatively for the first nine months, its net profit more than doubled to RM116.7 million.
Total revenue grew to RM2.2 billion, up by 12 per cent from RM1.9 billion in the same period last year.
In line with its revenue growth, for the nine-month period under review, Ebitda increased by 32 per cent compared with RM390.6 million for the same period in FY2021.
Patient visits increased to 2.53 million from 2.25 million in the same period last year, while BOR was higher at 55 per cent compared to 41 per cent in FY2021.
"Our commendable results this quarter signifies that we are back to our pre-pandemic performance, and we continue to be the preferred healthcare provider for Malaysians with the improving BOR as well as the month-on-month increase in patient visits, which is evident of our ongoing efforts," said Norhaizam Mohammad, officer in charge cum chief financial officer of KPJ.
" We believe that the healthcare industry will continue to be integral in Malaysia's economic landscape, and we are pleased that our strategy for strengthening operational excellence backed by digital offerings continues to anchor our momentum, especially as we sprint to conclude the financial year on a strong note," she added.
She said the opening of its first flagship hospital, DSH2, positioned it to continue delivering exceptional diagnosis and quality health treatments and care.
ON the back of its strong performance, KPJ declared a fourth interim dividend for FY2022 of 1.00 sen.
Combined with the earlier interim dividend declared for the cumulative 9M FY2022 of 1.00 sen, this brings total dividend payout to date to 2.00 sen per share.
The interim dividend of 1.00 sen per share, with a total aggregate payment of RM45.1 million, will be paid to the shareholders of KPJ on Dec 28.
