KUALA LUMPUR: Ansat Broadcast Sdn Bhd has partnered with Indonesian multinational conglomerate, MNC Group to conduct the business of subscriber-based television and content distribution services.
Ansat Broadcast is licensed by Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in the provision of content application services including subscription broadcasting and non-subscription-based television broadcasting.
Ansat Broadcast today has signed a memorandum of understanding with PT MNC Vision Networks Tbk (IPTV) for the plans.
The company said both parties will conduct the services using Direct to Home (DTH) and extending its alliance with MNC Media's digital entertainment arm, PT MC Digital Entertainment Tbk (MSIN) through its Over-the-Top (OTT) platform for the Malaysian market.
IPTV, part of the Indonesian multinational conglomerate MC Group, is a leading broadcast service provider and content provider in Indonesia.
Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp) founder and chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun believe this partnership will contribute positively to BCorp's earning growth.
Tan said the partnership would not be limited only to media and satellite television business but also other opportunities that MNC Group can bring to Malaysia.
"This partnership will also bring more opportunities for BCorp to expand our business in Indonesia.
"Thus, I believe this is mutually beneficial to both parties as it will create more job opportunities and bring more foreign direct investment (FDI) to both countries," he said at the MoU signing ceremony here today.
MNC Group executive chairman Hary Tanoesoedibjo said Malaysia is a close neighbour to Indonesia, where it shares many similarities in people, culture, language and friendships.
Hary said that with the MNC's wealth of content and experience in the Indonesian media industry, he is confident that the group would be able to introduce new content to Malaysian audiences.
"I also hope that we would be able to play a role in helping to develop the local content industry and to bring locally created content overseas," he said.
At the same event, BCorp also signed a preliminary non-binding term sheet with MNC's financial arm, PT MNC Kapital Indonesia TBK (BCAP), to enable both parties to explore money business in Malaysia.
The strategic partnership aims to leverage BCorp and BCAP's strengths to develop and expand e-money-related services, specifically between Indonesia and Malaysia.
Hary said the partnership between MNC Group and BCorp is expected to create synergy in providing convenience to our Indonesian people in Malaysia.
He said the group hopes this partnership will also lead to more collaboration between Indonesian and Malaysian companies to benefit both countries and their people, particularly in trade, investments, and businesses.
"I am confident that our expertise in digital financial services will be a game-changer and bring significant value to this partnership," he added.
