Ranhill Utilities secures RM210mil contract from Italy-based Saipem SpA

KUALA LUMPUR: Ranhill Utilities Bhd's subsidiary, Ranhill Worley Sdn Bhd, has secured a RM210 million (US$50 million) contract from a wholly-owned subsidiary of Saipem SpA of Italy for the Qatar North Field project.

In a statement today, the company said the contract was to perform detailed engineering design for two compression complexes associated with the North Field Production Sustainability (NFPS) offshore compression complexes project.

According to the company, the engineering design work is expected to be completed by the third quarter (Q3) of 2024.

The Qatar North Field is the world's largest natural gas field.

The NFPS contract awarded to Saipem encompasses the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and installation of two offshore natural gas compression complexes aimed at sustaining the production of the North Field, including two of the largest fixed steel jacket compression platforms ever built, flare platforms, interconnecting bridges, living quarters and interface modules.

"This award further reinforces Ranhill Worley's position as a leading provider of engineering and design services of oil and gas facilities in delivering sustainable tomorrow," chairman and chief executive Tan Sri Hamdan Mohamad said.

With over 25 years of track record, Ranhill Worley has delivered many designs, amongst others, the first float over of a heavy deck in Mumbai's harsh offshore environment and the float over of a mega deck of over 30,000 tonnes in China offshore.

Recently, Ranhill Worley was awarded the detailed design of the topsides of the new P-82 floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel for Petrobras Brazil, one of the largest vessels deployed in the Buzios field, and also the Kasawari carbon capture and storage (CCS) platform in Malaysia.
