UEM Sunrise names Hisham Hamdan as chairman, Reagan Chan as director

KUALA LUMPUR: UEM Sunrise Bhd has appointed Datuk Hisham Hamdan as its chairman and Reagan Chan as its director, both effective from July 1.

In a statement today, the property developer noted that both positions were formerly held by Datuk Noorazman Abd Aziz and Effizal Faiz Zulkifly respectively.

Hisham, 55, is currently an executive director of investments at Khazanah Nasional Bhd since April 2011, where he was entrusted with a mandate to invest in more than 10 countries.

He was also former chairman of UDA Holdings Bhd and BBCC Development Sdn Bhd, the developer of Bukit Bintang City Centre.

Previously, Hisham also served on the board of Iskandar Investment Bhd, Sunway Iskandar Sdn Bhd and Southern Marina Development Sdn Bhd.

Meanwhile, Chan, 41, is currently senior vice president of investments in Khazanah.

He joined Khazanah in 2012 and currently oversees its real assets and property portfolio, having previously covered Iskandar Malaysia and technology portfolios in the group.

According to UEM Sunrise, Noorazman's leadership was instrumental in spearheading the company's three-phase strategic turnaround plan comprising "Triage, Stabilise and Sustain", among other significant targets and sustainable initiatives.

He has led the company during the economic uncertainty wrought by the Covid-19 crisis, aiding the group in returning to the black for financial year 2022.

The company said Effizal Faiz played a pivotal role in the value creation of numerous key developments such as macro-townships, high-rise residential and integrated developments in the group during his tenure.

UEM Sunrise's gross profit margin rose to 44 per cent in the first quarter ended March 31, 2023 (1Q23) from 24 per cent in 1Q22.
