KUALA LUMPUR: Singapore-based Hotel Properties Ltd's (HPL) managing director Ong Beng Seng has been served with a notice of arrest from the country's Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) as the corruption probe involving transport minister S Iswaran widens.
CPIB has also requested that Ong provide more information on his interactions with Iswaran.
In an exchange filing, HPL said that while no charges have been filed against Ong, he has posted bail of $100,000.
Further, CPIB has requested that Ong surrender his passport to the agency upon his return to Singapore, as he will be travelling on July 14, 2023.
The filing further noted that Ong would be cooperating fully with CPIB and had provided the information requested by the agency.
"As this is an ongoing matter, he cannot provide further details at this point.
"He has undertaken to provide updates to HPL if there are subsequent material developments," the filing said.
Further, the filing said HPL's nominating committee had assessed the matter and determined that Ong is suitable to carry out his duties and responsibilities as managing director.
The board and the nominating committee will continue to monitor the progress of the matter, and the nominating committee will continue to re-assess the suitability of the continued appointment of Ong, it said.
On Wednesday, Singapore prime minister Lee Hsien Loong ordered Iswaran to go on leave after CPIB launched a corruption probe.
