KUALA LUMPUR: Reservoir Link Energy Bhd, which has been selected as a solar power producer by the Energy Commission (EC) under the Corporate Green Power Programme, believes the appointment is just tip of the iceberg for its progression in the renewable energy space.
Reservoir Link's unit Reservoir Link Renewables Sdn Bhd is part of the consortium with Sumitomo Corporation and Maqo Engineering Sdn Bhd which was selected by the EC.
Executive Director Thien Chiet Chai said the initiative along with the targets set forth by the local government have been promoting the usage of renewable energy and sustainable business operations which will likely spearhead the nation's continuous efforts towards implementing more renewable solutions.
"Reservoir Link believes that this is just the tip of the iceberg. We foresee that there will be more activities coming from the renewable energy space over the coming years to support Malaysia's agenda which will benefit us given our involvement in renewable energy," said Thien.
Applications for the CGPP are still ongoing and will conclude on December 31, 2023 or until the total allocation quota of 800 megawatt has been fully subscribed. Of the 71 applications submitted, 22 were selected as solar power producers with a combined export capacity of over 560MW.
The balance quota of 236.58MW has yet to be assigned. Of the 22 selected, majority have been allocated with the maximum export capacity of 30MW including this Reservoir Link-led consortium.
