IIB calls for an "alignment of efforts" with Forest City's Special Financial Zone status

KUALA LUMPUR: Iskandar Investment Bhd (IIB) today called for an "alignment of efforts" between itself,  the federal and state governments to fully capitalise on Forest City's newly acquired Special Financial Zone (SFZ) status.

"While we wait for more comprehensive details on the Johor-Singapore Economic Zone and SFZ frameworks respectively, IIB reiterates its commitment and desire to work closely with the federal and state governments to align the progress within Iskandar Puteri with the potential advantages brought about by this recent development.

Our commitment to the success of Johor is unwavering, and we believe that through alignment of efforts, we can collectively create an environment that stimulates economic prosperity and sustainable growth," IIB president and chief executive officer Datuk Idzham Mohd Hashim said in a statement.

IIB is a key catalyst and strategic developer within Iskandar Malaysia Flagship Zone B, which includes Medini and EduCity.

Idzham said the close proximity between Medini and Forest City provides an ideal opportunity to build an inclusive and sustainable metropolis of the future through seamless cooperation, identification of opportunities as well as complementing the proposed establishment of a Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone.

"IIB remains dedicated to contributing to the continued growth of Johor's economy, attracting investments, fostering innovation, and creating a vibrant ecosystem that benefits both local communities and the region at large," he added.
