KUALA LUMPUR: Over 400 participants gathered at the MTDC Technology Conference & Exhibition (MTCE) to deliberate the state of Malaysia's deep tech ecosystem and explore how investments into new technologies will impact the country.
MTCE 2023 was launched today by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang who highlighted the important role of technology in driving sustainability and impactful investments for Malaysia.
"Globally the speed of technological change, coupled with a positive investment climate for deep tech, is exciting with Malaysia's current investments in deep tech showing significant growth," MTDC chief executive officer Mohammad Hazani Hassan said.
"Part of our focus at MTDC is to assist all sectors of both the deep tech and venture capital investment community in maximising their opportunities in relation to Malaysia's technological advancement. Part of this is realising the untapped potential of our SMEs."
The conference featured keynote and forum sessions aimed at dissecting the intricacies of "Deep Technology", a term covering an array of frontier technologies like robotics, 3D printing, artificial intelligence, medical and healthcare, aerospace and automation.
Speakers such as Datuk Mohd Nor Azman Hassan, deputy secretary general (technology development) of Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry and Sivasuriyamoorthy Sundara Raja, deputy chief executive officer of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, offered their perspectives on how deep tech investments are fast-tracking numerous projects into remarkable success stories and what attributes these successful ventures share.
Participants had the opportunity to explore a wide array of I4.0 solutions, advanced technologies, and services presented by companies in MTDC's ecosystem.
The exhibition facilitates interactions and fosters partnerships for future collaborations and business opportunities with industry leaders, professionals, and potential collaborators.
MTCE 2023 also aims to inform and create awareness among participants about MTDC products and services, providing valuable insights into their benefits.
By creating opportunities, participants can connect, communicate and build partnerships with potential collaborators, government agencies and industry leaders.
The event also marked a significant milestone as MTDC unveiled its Coffee Table Book titled "30 Techno Dreams," highlighting the success and strengths of the companies within its ecosystem companies and technopreneurs who dared to dream.
Hazani said MTCE 2023 is not just another tech conference and acts as a rallying point for change.
