Bursa Malaysia slips into red on "healthy" profit taking

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia closed in the red on Tuesday due to profit-taking activities and the shortened trading week.

At 5pm, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI was down 0.33 per cent or 5.41 points to 1,622.09 versus Monday's close of 1,627.50.

The key index, which opened at 1,628.38, only moved south throughout the day and hit the lowest level of 1,620.80.

The broader market was also negative with decliners leading gainers 722 to 464 while 502 counters were unchanged.

"We believe Bursa closed in the red due to healthy profit taking activities and also ahead of Nvidia earnings on Wednesday. This is also coupled with the holiday break on Bursa tomorrow," Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd research head Loui Low told Business Time.

On the index board, FBM100 closed 0.32 per cent lower at 11,951.25, FBM Emas dropped 0.33 per cent to 12,357.84 and while FBM Ace was 0.07 per cent to 5,423.37.
