MANJUNG: A dispute between a workshop and a customer over repair charges led to the authorities raiding the premises for failing to provide details and a quotation for services provided.
Perak Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry director Datuk Kamaluddin Ismail said the raid was carried out after the customer complained about the charge of repairing his vehicle.
"Investigations revealed that the workshop owner failed to provide information on the repairs or provide a quotation before carrying out repairs on the car when asked."
Kamaluddin said action was taken against the workshop owner under the Consumer Protection Act for failing to provide a customer with the relevant information in writing before and after the service was completed.
He said the authorities would probe any unethical behaviour to protect the rights of consumers, and urged the public to inform them of such incidents.
"Reports can be lodged at the nearest Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry office."
