KUALA LUMPUR: The trustees of Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) has raised its stake in Malaysia's largest banking group, Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) to 30.49 per cent.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia Securities yesterday, Maybank said Amanahraya Trustees Berhad bought 27.76 million shares in the bank on May 20, when the bank closed at a high of RM9.99.
The acquisition brings the number of shares it owns in the bank to 3.68 billion shares.
Maybank's share price hit a high of RM10 today, before settling unchanged at RM9.99 a share as at 11.42am.
Some 2.7 million shares changed hands.
