KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia closed with a cautious mood among investors anticipating the results of the upcoming two-day Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting.
At 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) declined 0.16 per cent, losing 2.54 points to settle at 1,608.95, down from Tuesday's close of 1,611.49.
The market showed a negative breadth with 758 decliners surpassing 549 gainers, while 469 counters remained unchanged.
Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd said the index was negatively impacted by selling pressure on Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd, which fell 8.0 sen, and MISC Bhd, which dropped 11.0 sen, wiping out the gains made earlier in the day.
"The technology sector (up 2.06 per cent) was the best performing sector on the back of buying interest in Inari Amertron Bhd (up 32.0 sen) and Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (up 138.0 sen) as the sector garnered positive interest from Nvidia," it said.
