Bursa Malaysia settles midday firmer as investors pick plantation, healthcare stocks

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia rebounded in the morning trade to close higher at midday supported by plantation and healthcare counters. 

At 12.30 pm, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI was up 0.19 per cent or 2.96 points to 1,587.90 versus Thursday's close of 1,584.94. 

The key index opened in the red at 1,583.53 and moved between 1,581.52 and 1,588,57 in the morning trading session. 

The market was positive with gainers leading decliners 521 to 390 while 471 counters were unchanged. 

On the index board, FBM100 added 0.28 per cent 11,780.38, FBM Emas gained 0.29 per cent to 12,196.52 and FBM Ace was up 0.41 per cent to 5,712.24. 

Among the top gainers were Malaysian Pacific Industries which gained 48 sen to RM39.36 and CelcomDigi Bhd gained 20 sen to RM3.67. 

On the losing end, Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd lost 20 sen to RM121.30 and Petronas Gas Bhd dropped 18 sen to RM17.80.
