They defeated fellow former world champions Ko Sung Hyun-Shing Baek Cheol of South Korea 21-18, 21-17 in the second round at the Iksan Gymnasium today.
The Malaysians will next face the winners of the clash between Taiwan's Lu Chen-Po Li Wei and South Korea's Kim Jae Hyeon-Lee Sang Won.
Earlier, Jacky Kok, who was axed from the national team last month, was defeated 22-20, 21-14 by fifth seed Takuma Obayashi from Japan in the men's singles second round.
