Bursa Malaysia closes higher from buying in financial, plantation and property stocks

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia managed to keep its momentum in the midday session, supported by the financial, plantation and property sectors.

At 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) increased 0.43 per cent, gaining 7.04 points to 1,626.10, compared to Friday's close of 1,619.06.

The broader market also remained positive as gainers led losers by 625 to 443, while 455 counters remained unchanged.

Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd said with the rebound on Wall Street, the firm expects traders to take on more exposure on the local front.

"We believe the overall data centre catalysts could boost the demand for stocks within the construction, property, building material and utilities stocks and likely to provide buy-on-dip opportunities.

Also, we favour selected stocks within the gloves, solar, and packaging," it said.

On the commodities market, Brent oil is ranging around US$84 to US$85, while gold is holding firmly above US$2,400, in view of weaker dollar pricing in the rate cuts in the second half of 2024 (2H24).

Meanwhile, the crude palm oil has rebounded off RM3,900.
