Sunview to undertake solar PV projects in Uzbekistan

KUALA LUMPUR: Sunview Group Bhd says its wholly-owned Fabulous Sunview Sdn Bhd has signed a heads of terms agreement with Uzbekistan for solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants and battery storage energy system (BESS) projects.

In a statement today, the company said the agreement outlined the terms in principle before the main terms of the collaboration are formalised.

Sunview will establish a special purpose company in Uzbekistan to build, finance, own, operate and maintain a 400 MWAC solar PV power plant in the Andijan region and a 200 MWAC solar PV power plant in Fergana region.

The plants will operate under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA), starting from the scheduled commercial operation date, after which Sunview will either transfer or decommission the plant.

Uzbekistan will provide essential support, including land leases and regulatory approvals necessary for successful project execution.

Sunview also will develop a 100MWAC/200MWh BESS near the plant in the Andijan region with a tenure of 12 years.

Group executive director and group chief executive officer HP Ong said the project not only underscores Sunview's expertise in solar energy industry but also demonstrates its dedication to sustainable development and international collaboration.

"This agreement symbolises a significant step forward in our journey toward a net-zero and sustainable energy landscape as we embark on this transformative project in Uzbekistan.

"We are excited to contribute to Uzbekistan's energy landscape and foster a greener future for all," he said.
