KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines today said all necessary flight cancellations for August and September have been completed with no further disruptions expected.
In a Facebook post, the airline assured passengers that, save for the cancellations done, all other flights in August and September remain unaffected and will continue to operate as scheduled.
"We are fully committed to ensuring your travel plans proceed smoothly and without disruption," it said in its second post since it announced a temporary reduction to its network last Saturday.
On August 24, Malaysia Airlines' parent Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) announced a temporary reduction in flights for its subsidiaries, including Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, and Amal, due to a series of disruptions.
Its managing director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail said the reduction in the network was necessary to implement corrective measures aimed at ensuring the long-term reliability of its fleet and minimising disruptions.
According to AeroRoute, Malaysia Airlines will temporarily cut the frequency of flights to 13 international destinations within its route network.
These routes include flights from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi, Denpasar, Ho Chi Minh, Jakarta, Jeddah, Medan Kualanamu, Mumbai, Osaka Kansai, Seoul Incheon, Shanghai Pudong, Singapore, Tokyo-Narita, and Yangon.
