Barakah Offshore in talks with Indonesian buyer for Kota Laksamana 101 barge

KUALA LUMPUR: Barakah Offshore Petroleum Bhd today said it is in preliminary talks with a potential buyer from an Indonesian firm for its Kota Laksamana 101 barge.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia Securities, the oil and gas (O&G) company said that discussions between the parties are still in the early stages.

"The company wishes to clarify that it had received a non-binding offer from an Indonesian firm via a private tender for the disposal of the Kota Laksamana 101 barge."The company wishes to clarify further that discussion between the parties are preliminary and has not been finalised as at the date of this announcement," it said.

Barakah Offshore said it will make the requisite announcements and seek the necessary approvals, where required in relation to the proposed disposal.

Barakah Offshore was responding to a news article published on Sept 16, 2024 titled "Barakah close to selling pipe-laying vessel to Indonesian firm".

The news article stated that the O&G company is in talks for a potential sale priced below RM43.5 million (US$10 million), which is less than its previous asking price of US$11.4 million in March this year.

Barakah Offshore's stock remained at 4.5 sen, with a market capitalisation of RM45.1 million.
