Eversendai has showcased Malaysia's technical expertise on world stage: Nanta

KUALA LUMPUR: Eversendai Corporation Bhd has made significant contributions to the global construction industry, showcasing Malaysia's technical expertise on the world stage, said Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

He described Eversendai, which has successfully completed over 500 projects worldwide, including iconic landmarks such as Dubai's Burj Khalifa, Bur Al Arab, Malaysia's KLCC Twin Towers, and Merdeka 118, as a source of national pride.

During a recent official visit to Eversendai's largest steel fabrication plant in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, Nanta commended the group for setting a world record with the longest cantilever building, part of the One Za'abeel project.

The cantilever, known as The Linx, spans 228 meters and connects two towers 100 meters above the ground.

Nanta also emphasised that Eversendai's use of building information modelling (BIM) technology in the early stages of design and steel fabrication was key to successfully completing such a complex engineering achievement.

"During this visit, I was given a briefing regarding the operation of the factory, manufacturing, steel fabrication, and building structure design carried out at the factory.

"I was informed that BIM is used in the project implementation, especially in the preparation stage of project design, particularly steel structures," he said in a posting on Facebook.

Nanta lauded Eversendai's steel fabrication plant, noting that it produces 200,000 metric tonnes of steel annually.

The group employs about 12,000 workers and operates seven fabrication plants in Malaysia, Dubai, Sharjah, Qatar, and India.

Eversendai executive chairman Tan Sri A.K. Nathan said the group aims to "fly the Jalur Gemilang as high as possible" through its international projects, particularly with landmark structures such as Burj Khalifa and One Za'abeel.

Eversendai recently secured RM1.1 billion in new contracts in India, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia, which brought its order book to a new record high of RM6.7 billion.

Eversendai's unit in Chennai, India, secured composite structural steel and civil works projects for the DLF Downtown Taramani Block 4 & 5, involving 27-floor and 32-floor building developments.

Meanwhile, another contract in Mumbai, India, is for the C65 commercial tower project, a 19-floor composite structure building, and the 30 Little Gibbs, a high-rise composite structure residential building.

Its unit in Singapore secured the Founder's Memorial project.

Eversendai said the scope of all these projects includes connection design, engineering and preparation of shop drawings, steel material supply, fabrication, delivery, and erection of structural steel works.

Eversendai also landed a host of projects in the Middle East, beginning with the structural steel subcontract works package for the Speed Park Track, Primary Pit, and Motorsports Experience Centre in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

It noted that the Speed Park Track is a new Qiddiya racetrack located near the heart of Riyadh that will host the biggest international motorsport championships in the world.
