Bursa flags Pertama Digital unusual market activity

KUALA LUMPUR: Pertama Digital fell to a new two-year low today, shedding 30 per cent of its value, and received an unusual market activity (UMA) query from Bursa Malaysia.

The regulator asked Pertama Digital to respond to its queries surrounding its share movement, which has fallen 40 per cent in the last two days.

Short selling on the stock was also suspended for a second day.

Its stock was down to RM1.12 earlier, with 416,100 shares changing hands.

Short selling in the stock will resume on Friday at 8.30am.

Short selling in Pertama Digital was suspended yesterday as well after its share price fell to RM1.60 a share.

Pertama Digital operates neobank - a digital product that offers government agencies digitalisation services in return for large deposits; and the MySMS brand, which is responsible for the transmission of millions of messages sent between various agencies of the government to the people.

On September 30, the company announced the resignation of its executive director Mohd Reza Mohd Hatta.

Three days prior to that its non executive director Tan Seri Dr Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani also resigned from his position.

Both left to pursue their own interests. In filings with Bursa Malaysia Securities, the company said there were no disagreement between the two directors with the board and no matters which need to be brought to the attention of shareholders.
