MMGlobal buys UGO Travel

KUALA LUMPUR: MMGlobal Active (MMGlobal) is buying the entire 100 per cent stake in UGO Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, a local travel agency licensed under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

MMGlobal founder and group chief executive officer Mohamad Minhat said the acquisition strengthens the company's service offerings, aligning with his vision of creating a comprehensive ecosystem within the aviation and tourism sectors.

"UGO Travel will further enhance our business portfolio, complementing MMGlobal's air/sea cargo services and manpower solutions, MAZ Gerbang's aircraft maintenance and repair (MRO) services, and Prosky Services' ground handling operations at airports nationwide," he said in a statement.

MMGlobal's journey began in 2020 when Mohamad founded MAZ Gerbang Sdn Bhd, an MRO service provider, amid the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, at a time when many companies were shutting down.

Today, MAZ Gerbang's clients include airlines such as Malaysia Airlines, FlyFirefly, World Cargo Airlines and Kargo Express Airways.

Mohamad said the acquisition also presents an opportunity for MMGlobal to venture into the Umrah market by offering packages in collaboration with Muasasah agencies in Saudi Arabia.

Initially, he said UGO Travel is expected to handle about 1,000 Umrah pilgrims annually.

"We guarantee seamless departure for pilgrims without any ticketing issues and offer accommodations near the Masjid al-Haram or based on their preferences," he added.
