KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Melaka ICT Holdings (MICTH) to further develop connectivity infrastructure in the state.
This includes increasing broadband capacity through fiberisation of mobile sites, as well as expanding fibre to the premise (FTTP) coverage for homes and businesses.
Maxis will also work with MICTH to enhance digital connectivity and services at public offices and community centres.
Maxis chief executive officer Goh Seow Eng said it will continue to explore future-ready use cases such as Smart City and industry solutions powered by 5G-Advanced (5G-A) technology.
"We already have a longstanding presence in the state, providing fast, secure and reliable connectivity through our existing mobile and fibre networks.
"This partnership also marks the latest milestone in our commitment to support Malaysia's digital agenda," he said in a statement.
MICTH chief executive officer Dr Nazdiana Ab Wahab said the partnership will support the creation of an inclusive, vibrant and thriving economy as envisioned by the state government in the Smart Melaka Blueprint 2035.
Maxis' partnership with MICTH supports its ongoing efforts to promote 5G-A Smart City solutions, using next-generation connectivity for faster speeds and lower delays.
This includes exploring 5G-A applications for local governments and property developments and collaborating with tech partners on innovations to benefit businesses and industries.
