KUALA LUMPUR: Johor-based pawn broker Well Chip Group Bhd says it has experienced a cybersecurity breach due to a malware attack on its information technology (IT) servers.
According to a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said the incident resulted in blocked access to the data stored on those servers.
"Upon discovering the incident, the group took immediate and appropriate actions to identify, contain, isolate and remediate the affected servers.
"Investigations are ongoing, and the group will conduct a rigorous review of the Incident and its IT systems to enhance and strengthen its overall cybersecurity infrastructure," it added.
Well Chip said it had enlisted a third-party forensic consultant to investigate the incident, identify any vulnerabilities and enhance its overall cybersecurity framework.
The company added that it is in the process of reporting the incident to the relevant authorities.
"The group has immediately initiated a business recovery process to minimise any potential operational disruption to customers and would like to assure all stakeholders that it takes information security seriously and has placed high priority in addressing the incident," it said.
