Aeon Co's Q3 net profit jumps 36pct on higher consumer spending

KUALA LUMPUR: Aeon Co (M) Bhd's net profit rose 36.2 per cent to RM18.79 million in the third quarter (Q3) ended September 30, 2024 from RM13.88 million a year ago. 

Aeon's revenue rose to RM1 billion in Q3 2024 compared to RM955.9 million last year due to the higher consumer spending, particularly from the food category as consumers continue to prioritise spending on necessities. 

For the nine months period ended September 30, 2024 (9M24), the company's net profit surged by 26.5 per cent to RM104.0 million.

Aeon registered total revenue of RM3,191.3 million for 9M24, representing a 3.1 per cent increase compared to RM3,095.7 million in the previous year's corresponding period.

No dividend was proposed or declared for the financial period.

Looking forward, Aeon remains focused on advancing strategic priorities in retail and property management. 

These efforts include accelerating digital initiatives, expanding private brand offerings, and strengthening AEON Living Zones to meet the evolving needs of its customers.
