KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is spearheading the participation of 13 Malaysian companies at The Big 5 Global 2024, aimed at positioning themselves in the growing Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region's construction market.
The event, which is the premier trade exhibition for construction and building materials in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, will be held in Dubai from November 26 to 29 and is expected to attract over 2,500 exhibitors and 85,000 visitors from 165 countries.
The Malaysian delegation includes companies specialising in diverse building materials, ranging from aviation obstruction lights, clay bricks, and acrylic sheets to advanced solutions like tensile fabric structures and fiber mastic asphalt, which underscores Malaysia's innovative edge in the construction sector.
MATRADE's Deputy CEO, Abu Bakar Yusof, highlighted the UAE's booming construction market as a lucrative opportunity for Malaysian exporters.
Moreover, the sector is projected to grow by 6.2 per cent, reaching RM239.17 billion in 2024, and is expected to maintain a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.4 per cent through 2028, with an estimated output of RM295.66 billion by then.
The UAE's focus on sustainable development and smart technologies, driven by the Clean Energy Strategy 2050, offers additional avenues for Malaysian companies to align their offerings with the region's goals for reducing carbon emissions and integrating cutting-edge architectural solutions.
