KUALA LANGAT: A trash trap near Kampung Rancangan Tanah Belia (RTB) Bukit Changgang, Kuala Langat, has become the focal point of a grim discovery.
The body of a suspected murder victim, potentially linked to the disappearance of 15-year-old Yap Xin Yuan, was found in the secluded area located 500 metres from the main road.
The area, which is near cattle and goat pens, is quiet and often frequented by anglers. It is also reported to be a habitat for crocodiles.
The path leading to the location is a dirt road, passable by motorcycles and cars, while the nearby river water is murky. The trash trap itself is clogged with garbage, and the surrounding area resembles a dumping ground, with an excavator stationed nearby and smoke rising from piles of trash.
A local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said they first learned about the discovery of the body through a WhatsApp message last Sunday. The resident said bodies, regardless of gender, are often found in the area.
"We were just shocked to hear that the body found on Saturday is allegedly linked to the case of the missing teenage girl."
Meanwhile, a check at Banting Hospital revealed no sign of the victim's family at the Forensic Medicine Unit. It is understood that an autopsy has already been conducted.
Earlier, three men, including the boyfriend of the missing teenage girl who was reported missing since Dec 19, were detained by the police.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the suspects, aged 16, 20, and 51, include the boyfriend and two of his family members.
They have been remanded until Jan 5 to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
