Johor Super Lane set to launch, transforming investment landscape

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor is poised to transform its investment landscape with the launch of the Johor Super Lane (JSL), an ambitious initiative announced under the Johor Budget 2025.

Unveiled during the state assembly at Kota Iskandar on November 21, the JSL is designed to streamline governance, accelerate business processes, and drive economic growth, solidifying Johor's position as a premier investment hub in the region.

According to Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, the JSL will operate through the Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre Johor (IMFC-J), a one-stop investment centre dedicated to expediting investment and development processes in the state.

"JSL is an innovative platform designed to streamline processes and enhance the ease of doing business in Johor.

"Among its key advantages are reducing the land development process timeline from 37 months to just 13 months and issuing business operation licenses within one hour after the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) is submitted," Onn Hafiz said in his Facebook post.

Meanwhile, Onn Hafiz said JSL also incorporates a range of improvements to simplify and synchronise development processes.

Among its key features is the ability for developers to submit multiple applications simultaneously, including planning permission, engineering plans, building plans, landscaping designs, and street lighting layouts.

"The initiative also accelerates approvals for building works, reducing the timeline from 57 days to just 14 days. Simultaneous processing of Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports now allows these crucial documents to be cleared in 14 days instead of the previous 30.

"Additionally, the time required to issue land titles has been drastically reduced from 240 days to just 53 days," he said.

Further demonstrating its commitment to business facilitation, Onn Hafiz said JSL introduces a policy allowing businesses to install machinery before receiving their CCC, expediting operational readiness.

Construction monitoring and CCC support will also be coordinated two months before a project's anticipated completion to ensure smooth finalisation, he said.

Moving forward, Onn Hafiz said with the JSL, the state government hopes that it will not only accelerate investment and development processes but also create a competitive, business-friendly environment.

"This effort aligns with the vision of making Johor a primary investment destination in the region," he added
