Gobind: Government-private sector collaboration key to tackling cybersecurity challenges

KUALA LUMPUR: Collaboration between the government and private sector is crucial to addressing today's complex cybersecurity challenges, said Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

He said that no single entity can tackle these multifaceted issues alone.

"Government agencies like CyberSecurity Malaysia bring crucial technical expertise to the table, providing services that ensure our digital platforms, infrastructure, and applications align with global standards while addressing local needs.

"On the other hand, industry partners like MyOri Services are at the forefront of technological innovation, bringing agility, creativity, and specialised solutions that can be rapidly adapted to emerging challenges," he said in his speech before witnessing the signing ceremony of a collaboration agreement between CyberSecurity Malaysia and MyORI Services here.

Gobind highlighted that the MyORI SmartSecure platform has now achieved the required cybersecurity certification, paving the way for its implementation across various government ministries and agencies.

"This not only ensures a secure digital platform but also builds a culture of trust and accountability in the marketplace," he said.

For consumers, this partnership offers increased assurance of product authenticity and safety. Businesses, on the other hand, gain tools to meet regulatory requirements while enhancing competitiveness.

Gobind also noted that this collaboration marks a significant step forward in creating a secure, transparent, and resilient digital ecosystem in Malaysia.

MyORI Services, the developer of the MyORI SmartSecure Platform, has introduced a patent-pending secure product tagging solution leveraging encrypted near-field communication (NFC) technology.

The platform enables manufacturers, distributors, enforcement authorities, and consumers to securely authenticate products, access detailed product information, monitor product status, and manage recalls.

Ling Ken Ji, chief executive officer of MyORI Services, said the partnership combines CyberSecurity Malaysia's expertise with the MyORI SmartSecure Platform's innovation to address critical gaps in secure product labelling across various sectors.

"We have solutions to tackle counterfeit products across all sectors. We can help securely digitise supply chain monitoring of subsidised goods to reduce leakages of taxpayers' money.

"We are also market-ready to contribute to digitalisation reform efforts to upgrade legacy product marks or labels, such as mandatory standards compliance labels, tax stamps, geographical indication marks, and many other use cases," he said.
