Getha recognised at World Branding Awards

KUALA LUMPUR: Getha, one of Malaysia's leading bedding brands, has been named a winner at the 2024-2025 World Branding Awards at the historic Tower of London.

Recognised in the furniture (mattresses and bedding) category, Getha joins an exclusive group of brands honoured for their excellence and influence in their respective industries.

This marks the ninth time since 2015 that Getha has secured the coveted Brand of the Year accolade in its category, solidifying its status as a global leader in premium bedding solutions.

The recognition is especially significant as Getha stands as the sole Malaysian brand in its category to receive the National Tier Award this year.

The national tier accolade is reserved for brands that have demonstrated exceptional achievements within their home countries, becoming household names synonymous with trust and quality.

As part of the rigorous selection process, the World Branding Forum conducted independent market research and assessed over 927 brands from 66 countries, with less than 100 ultimately declared winners.

Founded in 1969, Getha has its roots in crafting 100 per cent natural latex bedding products.

The brand name "Getha" chosen to reflect its Malaysian heritage, derived from the Bahasa Malaysia word for latex, "Getah."

The name signifies a brand deeply connected to Malaysia, a tropical country celebrated for its superior rubber and natural latex products.

Getha exports to more than 30 countries and employs over 300 dedicated staff, some of whom have been with the company for over 40 years.

Its production includes up to 121,000 mattresses annually, supported by the processing of latex sourced from 120 million rubber trees.

Getha executive director Yong Mei Tsin said the award reflects its commitment to innovation, qualify and sustainability in an ever-evolving market.

It underscores our success in establishing strong brand recall and top-of-mind awareness among consumers, both in Malaysia and globally," said Yong.

Getha joins an illustrious roster of international and Malaysian winners celebrated at the World Branding Awards.

Notable global brands recognised this year include Spotify, BYD, Heinz, and Yakult, while Malaysian winners include Petronas, Farm Fresh, Mr. DIY and Munchy's.

Previous winners included household names like Apple, Coca-Cola, and Nike as well as Malaysian powerhouses such as AirAsia and Tenaga Nasional Bhd.

The awards' judging process combines brand valuation (30 per cent), public online voting (30 per cent) and consumer market research (40 per cent), making it one of the most comprehensive evaluations of brand strength and influence.
