KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will start anti-dumping investigations into tin plates imported from four countries, namely China, India, Japan, and South Korea.
The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) said the investigation follows a petition from Perusahaan Sadur Timah Malaysia (Perstima) Bhd.
Perstima alleged that imports of electrolytic tinplate from the four countries were being sold here at a much lower price than their domestic selling price in the alleged countries.
MITI said in a statement, it decided to start investigations after assessing and considering the information and evidences of dumping, injury and causal link set out in the petition.
A preliminary determination will be made within 120 days from the date of initiation.
If the preliminary determination is affirmative, the government will impose a provisional anti-dumping duty at the rate that is necessary to prevent further injury to the domestic industry.
