Trump picks billionaire restaurateur Fertitta as US Ambassador to Italy

WASHINGTON: US President-elect Donald Trump said that he had nominated the candidacy of billionaire restaurateur Tilman Fertitta to the post of US Ambassador to Italy.

"I am pleased to announce that Tilman J. Fertitta has been nominated to serve as the US Ambassador to Italy," Trump said on Truth Social.

Fertitta earned his fortune in the restaurant and hotel business, with his net worth estimated at US$10.4 billion. He became the tenth billionaire, whom Trump offered for a post in his future administration.
